Andrea Zekis is a journalist, cartographer and activist living in Little Rock, Arkansas. She attends the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service. Andrea is known nationally for her work advocating for the civil rights of transgender and gender non-binary Americans, particularly in Arkansas where she founded and serves on the board of the Arkansas Transgender Equality Coalition. In October 2018, she shared her difficult journey of first coming out as as gay, then later as a transgender woman. Prior to the Yarn, Andrea had discussed her coming out process but she never realized how important having her father’s acceptance was to her, which made this storytelling experience extra meaningful.
