Sara Brown

Born in Wisconsin, Sara has been working her way back to the midwest after living in New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Arkansas, and now Chicago. With an undergraduate degree in Sustainable Development from Appalachian State University, Sara spent her time after college working at an alternative school in Asheville, NC, and then spent several years at a global non-profit focused on ending world hunger in Little Rock, AR. A frequent listener of How I Built This podcast and supporting entrepreneurs, Sara was hungry for start-up experience. She got her MBA from the University of Arkansas while working in customer operations at an education technology start-up in Little Rock.

Sara, her boyfriend Ben, and her cat Summer recently moved to Chicago and are excited to see the city come back to life. She now works for a diversity hiring start-up based out of NYC. While she’s not unpacking boxes, Sara can be found exploring the city via bike or in her hammock by Lake Michigan. Sara’s grateful to be able to share her and her mom’s story.
